Air Force Common Admission Test is the test held at the national level, which is conducted successfully twice every year by the Indian Air Force. In the search of potential and courageous officer this exam is conducted who in reality want to serve their nation. It is not an easy job, it needs enthusiasm, zeal and passion, then only you will be selected as the conducted interview is taken by the highly educated and experienced officers.


It is an exam that gives you ultimate experience that you never dreamed in reality, Most of us dreaming to work between the sprawling jets, the only way to turn your dream into reality is to prepare for this exam. Every year, Indian Air Force conducts AFCAT exam for twice to select the appropriate officers in the IAF. After giving the exam shortlisted candidates are called for the interview. This interview is taken by the Air Force Selection Board called as AFSB. This exam is not conducted for the medical and dental branches.

AFCAT important points to be noted:

· Two types of entry process such as Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission.
· The test is conducted twice a year in the month of February and August.
· This exam is conducted for three branches of the IAF which are Flying Branch, Technical Branch and Ground Duty Branches.
· All the three branches have different eligibility criteria.
· There is no restriction in this exam that women are not eligible as in NDA i.e. both can apply.
· Women are only applicable for short service commission only, while men are eligible for both Permanent as well as Short Service Commission.
· There is only Short Service Commission for the Flying Branch.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Flying Branch — Candidate age should be lie between 20 to 24 years. He/she must be graduated from any authorized university and passed out there graduation with minimum 60%. This percentage is the aggregation of all the paper with the combination of Math’s and Physics at 10+2 level or complete four years degree course from any authorized university with minimum 60% marks.
  • Technical Branch- Candidate age should lie between 18 to 24 years from the start of the course. While, the education qualification is same as for the flying branch.
  • Ground Duty Branch- Candidate age should lie between 20 to 27 years from the start of the course. Both men and women must pass out their graduation in any stream from the recognized university with minimum 60% marks.

What is EKT AFCAT?

EKT full form is the Engineering Knowledge Test which is a part of AFCAT exam. This exam is conducted specifically for air forces technical duty. It is the second exam for which candidate has to be appeared if they want to join the technical branch. While for ground duty and flying branches only AFCAT exam is there. There is special AFCAT coaching is also given for this exam along its first exam preparation.

Physical requirements for women
For flying branch (for women)
Height — minimum 162.5 cm
Weight — according to height
Vision — 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other.
For technical and ground duty (for women)
Height- minimum 152 cm
Weight — as per body height.
