IAS Exam Number of attempts permitted
UPSC permit the 6 attempts to general category candidate in UPSC CSE, while 9 attempts are permitted for the OBC candidates. In case of SC/ST, there is no restriction as they have unlimited attempts till they attain the upper age limit.
IAS Exam Age Limits
UPSC Civil Services Exam set the minimum age criterion to appear in the IAS examination i.e. 21 years. While they also set the upper age limit of the exam on the basis of the category such as:
GENERAL: 32 years
OBC: 35 years
SC/ST: 37 years
How to Apply for the IAS Exam
From the issuing of notification, the online IAS exam filling is available for 20-25 days. The only online mode is now available to fill the exam as the postal forms have been superseded by UPSC.
